RAK #51 – random RAK Notes for strangers in the airport

without comments

RAK #51 – we took most of the remaining RAK Notes and left them in random places for strangers to find…on benches and seats, in the restroom counter, and on the terminal tram.

We knew that chances were high that they might be thrown away from the janitorial crew, but we were hoping that even just one was found and made someone’s day.

RAK #50 – RAK Note for store employee

without comments

RAK #50 – WOW, made it to the big 5-0!  In fitting spirit, the fiftieth Random Act of Kindness was not a large demonstration; rather, it was a simple RAK Note for the single employee working at the counter in a store in the Orlando airport.

A simple gesture.  That’s what the RAK project is all about.

RAK #49 – RAK Note & candy for shuttle driver

without comments

RAK #49 – while packing to leave Orlando, we discovered a few more RAK Notes in the backpack we had missed, along with one more bag of M&Ms.  My son decided to give this to the shuttle driver when he dropped us off, and he loved it.  Almost done!

RAK #48 – candy & RAK Notes at Hollywood Studios

without comments

RAK #48 – the last leg of our trip.  We were almost completely out of candy and RAK Notes, so we decided to let my son hand out our remaining stash to the Disney Hollywood studios staff – the parking attendants, the staff in stores, the cleaning crew, and security. They all seemed to be really surprised and appreciative of the gesture, and my son really enjoyed handing them out.

Go Above and Beyond During Random Acts of Kindness Week!

without comments

Smile at strangers. Let someone go ahead of you in line. Reach out to someone you haven’t talked to in a while. Volunteer.

Those are just some of the ideas suggested to mark Random Act of Kindness Week, Feb. 11- 17.

The Random Acts of Kindness Foundation encourages kindness to others 365 days a year, but this week the goal is to go “above and beyond to make others feel special,” according to the foundation’s website.

Big or small, kindness begets kindness.

Tweet your random act of kindness stories with hashtag #rakweek to be featured on the foundation’s website. You also can post it on the RAK Facebook page.

Share your stories in the comments below to inspire others to brighten someone else’s day!

RAK #47 – RAK Notes at DisneyQuest

without comments

RAK #47 – My son and I spent the evening back at Downtown Disney, at the DisneyQuest arcade complex.  Throughout the evening, he handed out RAK Notes to other kids, and we also left over a dozen notes in various places for people to find.  Even if one person reads it and pays it forward, it was worth it!

RAK #46 – candy & RAK Notes for NHSCC Staff

without comments

RAK #46 – Taking a break from Downtown Disney, we went to watch my daughter’s team compete at the National High School Cheerleading Championship (NHSCC).  While there, I handed out candy and RAK Notes to various staff members working at the event.  The scene was crazy busy, with cheerleaders, coaches, and parents running around, so I’m not sure some of the staff members understood what I was handing them…but I’m hoping they read the notes later and did a good deed for someone else.

RAK #45 – candy, stickers, and RAK Notes at Downtown Disney

without comments

RAK #45 – after Day One of our trip, our RAK efforts were pretty successful.  Day Two was spent around Downtown Disney, and my son passed out the remaining stickers and M&M candy along with RAK Notes notes to random people and Cast Members throughout the various stores.  Just like at Magic Kingdom, everyone thought it was a really amazing gesture, and people loved that my son was the one handing them out.

RAK #44 – stickers and RAK Notes for strangers at the Magic Kingdom

without comments

RAK #44 – in the last few hours of the day at Magic Kingdom, we passed out the rest of our stickers and notes to random people all over the park, and told them to “have a great day!”  Everyone we met thought these were really cool, and I hope they pay the kindness forward at some point.

RAK #43 – bought ice cream for a Veteran

without comments

RAK #43 – while buying ice cream for my son, we spotted an older gentleman in line behind us, wearing a cap that had “WWII Veteran” on the front.  My son and I thanked him for his service.  I then asked my son, “should we buy their ice cream?” and said “YEAH!”, so a few minutes later, when they placed their order, I insisted on paying.  They were both very grateful, and I told them it was the least I could do.

A little while after this, my son walked over to their table and gave them a sticker and a note, and after that I spied the Veteran read the note with a huge smile on his face. Mission accomplished!
